A Little Faith

welcome

2 week check up

Little Faith had her two week check up today! Everything is perfect! She now weighs 6lbs 10oz, which means that she gained 8oz.

She is such a strong newborn, already rolling to her side...and lifting her head. We are enjoying the little smiles (even if it is just gas).

Nightly feedings haven't been too bad, she is waking every 4 hours and usualllllyyyyyy falls asleep right away. We have had a couple of fussy nights, but oh so worth it!

Chris goes back to work after a 2 week paternity leave. Neither of us are ready for him to go, but we have to pay the bills.

Faith had an exciting weekend last weekend, as we visited her great-grandma down in Conejos. She didn't get to spend much time enjoying the outdoors due to mosquitoes and hot weather. BUT we were on a brown bear watch. The drought down there has brought them off of the mountain hungry and thirsty. While we were there we took the opportunity to take some pictures. Here is a sneak preview.

Friday July 8, 2011 my water broke around 8:00am. After calling the Dr.s office and showering Chris and I headed to the hospital. My Mom and Mamie met us there (excited).
We got checked in and did a "hurry up and wait" finally they wheeled us into a triage room around 10am where we waited...and waited because they wanted to "make sure" that my water broke (with out going into TMI details...trust me we KNEW). Finally after the nurse checked and realized I wasn't wrong they got me to a delivery room, in which we find out I hadn't dialated any from my last appt.

Well we walked around hoping to help things along and decided to start some medication because we weren't making any progress by 1pm. For any woman that has ever had pitocin you know that the contractions are very strong and very painful. So around 4pm I couldn't take it anymore and got an epidural. Now I wish that I wouldn't have waited so long, I instantly felt better. We checked again around 7pm and I was at 5cm (this is where they put oxygen on me because Faith's heart dropped with every contraction), whoopie we are doing SOMETHING.
An action shot for ya =)

Everyone made predictions on what time we thought she would come....Dr predicted 9:30pm. Around 8:30 I started feeling pressure, and was at 8cm!! The next 30 min are a blur. Dr. and nurse getting things ready. I started pushing around 9, her cord was wrapped around her neck so that took a minute and before we knew it....there she was!! It was amazing. My Dr was amazing, my nurse was amazing. It seemed almost relaxing. After we were both cleaned up the boys were the first to come in and hold her, that was a favorite moment!!

Not time yet

Well sweetpea, you are still inside...which must mean you just aren't ready to come out yet. I had a Dr appt. today and you and I are trucking along beautifully. Your heart rate was around 140, and measuring right where you should be. You are nice and snuggled in!!! Another appt. next Tuesday unless you make your world debut! We love you....and will wait for your sign.
